My question is this: I expected the download to be about 3gb - 4gb, but when I checked my data usage, only approx mb had been downloaded and the media was created successfully - I have checked it! Does the Media Creation Tool only download the files it needs to update the USB Drive or does it get files from my windows installation?? The Media Creation Tool downloads the installation files. I suggest you use the Recovery Drive feature which creates a bootable copy from install files stored locally:.

My question was "how has the Media Creation Tool only downloaded approx mb to create the installation"?? I would say your original estimation was correct, I have just checked my USB stick that I downloaded using the media creation tool and it shows 3.
